I can't figure out how to contact the owner of this horse. Can you help?

The owner contact form and owner contact information is located towards the bottom of the full-page horse ad. Be sure you are opening the full-page ad and not just looking at the search results list. There should be a "VIEW" button in the left column of the search list. If the horse has a photo, you can click on the photo or the VIEW button. There is also link to a full-page of information about the owner. This page contains a description of the owner's ranch or business and a zip code map.

What is one of the important things I should do before buying any horse?

Get a pre-purchase vet exam by a qualified equine veterinarian!!!

What does Private Price Mean?

Private Price means that the seller does not want to display the price publicly and may only release it to serious inquiries. You will need to contact them directly to inquire about the price. Thanks for using Horse.com.classifieds.

When I press the BACK button on my browser, it says the page is expired and I have to refresh or reload.

If you are having trouble with this, try viewing the horse using the "VIEW AD" button, you will then see a "BACK TO LIST" button on the ad which can be used to go back to the ad instead of the BACK button on your browser menu. This BACK TO LIST button only appears if you have used the VIEW AD button to begin with.

I can't see the VIEW AD button on the search result list.

We have had reports of this and one visitor found that she could see the button when she allowed cookies to be saved on her computer but not when running a "cookie filtering program." On photo ads, you can click on the thumbnail of the horse and we have added a link on the horse's name to avoid this issue.

I sent you an order/photo. Did you receive it?

1. All orders generate a confirmation email. If you did not get a confirmation email, you can check the status of your order by logging into your Horse.com.classifiedsaccount and clicking the My Account tab. You will be able to see a history of your current and past orders.

2. If you uploaded your photo, you should see it appear in a confirmation web page screen in your browser as soon as it finishes uploading. If you have any question about whether it uploaded correctly, just try again using the SAME Order# as before until you see it appear or you can attach it to an email and send it to us at photos@horse.com. Please be SURE to put your Horse ID in the subject line of this email.

3. If you uploaded your photo, it will not show as an instant image if you already have a final photo on your ad, if you type the Order# in the wrong format.

4. If you are uploading more than one photo for a horse or a replacement, please use the SET option (PHOTO 1 of a SET, PHOTO 2 of a SET) when you upload. This gives each photo a different name so you don't cover up the first one with the second one. If you tried to upload one over the other and are still seeing the first one, it is probably saved in your browser's history so using the set option will let you see the new one in this case too. You can also try to REFRESH the image using your browser's REFRESH button on the photo.

5. If it has been over 5 days since you ordered: YES, there is probably some problem with your order or your photo. Most likely, we have not found your photo or your order did not go through. Please try sending or uploading the photo again! We do send out email letting you know that your order is ON HOLD and why, but this does take us a few days if we are very busy. We go through these looking for the photos a couple of times a week and emailing customers requesting photos.

Does it cost anything to REPLACE or UPDATE a photo?

I can't remember my Password. Can you send it to me?

The fastest way you can get your Site login is from our automatic Horse.com User Registrationform. All you need is your registered email address and your login information will be mailed immediately to that email address. Of course, if you need further assistance, please email us explaining your problem which includes your registered User Name and email address, and we will try look it up for you. The first time you use the Horse.com.classifieds, you will need to register for a new Horse.com Classified account which is in ADDITION to your Horse.com Site account. If you need your password for your STORE account, please visit the store, click on the My Account tab, and then click the forgotten password button.

I keep getting a message that I have used an incorrect password. Why is this?

The first thing is to check your password with our system and have it emailed to you. Then be sure you are typing it in, not relying on information that may be saved in your browser. If there is already something in the browser window, delete it out and re-enter it. Be sure that you are capitalizing the password exactly like you originally entered it. You may need to clear your browser's cache buffer. In Netscape, go to Edit, Preferences, Advanced, Cache, Clear Memory Cache. In IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, General, Delete Temporary Internet Files.

I'm just shopping, not selling. Do I need to register?

Well, we'd like you to register, but it is not required. Registering allows you to have your own page where you can save your favorite horses and searches.

How long does it take for my text ad to appear online?

Your text ad should appear online immediately after you save it. If it does not appear, it probably did not save properly. To confirm that your ad is on our site, login and see if it is listed in your horses next to the edit button.

How long does it take for my photo to appear online?

We will do our best to get photos online within 2 to 3 days of receipt of your photo (sooner if possible but can be longer depending on circumstances.

How do I know when my photo is online?

We will send you an email to your registered email address when your photo is added. When you receive this email, please check your ad to make sure we have the correct photo on your ad. If you receive an email like this and did not send us a photo, please check your ad and let us know immediately if there is a problem. Please be sure to proofread your ad after you receive this confirmation email.

When does my 90 days start?

The 90 days starts when we get your photo added to your ad, not before. Instant Images do not count toward your 90 days.

How do I know when my photo will expire?

View your full-page ad and hold your mouse cursor over the photo. The expiration date will be in the little pop-up bubble. If you have more than one photo on an ad, each photo has its own expiration date.

How to I Prepare my Image for Upload?

The image should be saved as a JPG with a filename ending in ".jpg". The image should be approximately 400 pixels on its largest size. When saved, the file should be less than 750KB. You should know where to find the image on your computer.

How do I upload my photo?

Have your photo ready by saving it on your computer in the JPG image format with the size less than 500K. When you fill in our upload form, you will see a "Browse" button which allows you to select this image off of your own computer by moving through your directories and finding your file. When we work on your order, we will further reduce the image to approximately 30K by resizing and cropping for you.

Can I put more than one photo on an ad?

Yes, more than one photo can be displayed, but keep in mind that our price is per photo.

Can I use a collage of photos instead of just one photo for the price of one photo?

Yes you can, but the photo size will be reduced to the normal size of one photo, (not to exceed 400 pixels on the largest side).

I am going to renew my ad. Can I send you a better picture?

Yes. This is especially useful on the young horses that are changing so quickly! Please be sure to select the "Renew with NEW photo" option when ordering.

I'd really like to know how many people have seen my ad. Can I have a hit counter?

Yes, all Photo Ads have display counters near the bottom of the page. Sorry, free text ads do not have display counters as this was slowing down our database so we had to limit it. Instant image ads do not show a hit counter until the order is complete and the final photo is online.

How much traffic does the Horse.com.classifieds site get?

We expect that this will get at least as much traffic as our retail and forum portion of our site and we get hundred of thousand of individual vistors per month.

I tried to register, submitted the info and received an error message. I tried again, and was told I was already registered. Help!

First try getting your password from our automatic Password Request program. If you are registered (with the correct email address) it will find you and email you your login information. If that doesn't work, please let us know.

My horse is sold. Can you please remove it?

Horse.com.classifiedsgives you full control of your ads, we need you to be responsible for marking your horse sold. All you need to do is login and you can edit, mark sold, renew, or delete your ads anytime. In other words, we prefer that you manage your own ads as much as possible. If you delete all your horses, your account will remain on our system for future use. If your horse is sold, we ask that you login and mark your horse either "Sold," "Sale Pending," or "Sold Here" rather than deleting it immediately so others can see that Horse.com.classifieds really works!

Do horses really sell here?

If you want to see for yourself, go to our Advanced Search and run a search for ANY BREED, ANY STATE, and click ONLY SHOW SOLD ADS and you will see recently sold horses.

I don't want to put my real email online. What do you suggest?

We suggest setting up a free web-based email account at Hotmail.com, Mail.com or Yahoo.com just for your ads.

Can I put an ad on for a friend who does not have a computer?

Yes, but you won't be able to use your own email address twice. You might want to set up a web-based email account for your friend on Yahoo.com, Hotmail.com, or Mail.com and use that on your friend's Owner Registration here.

When I login, I can only see one horse to edit and I should have more

Click the little arrow on the right side of the horse's name with your left mouse button to open the horse-selection list box.

I tried to add a horse and there was an error. Do I have to start over?

As soon as you get the error, press the back button on your browser, correct your ad making sure to fill in all required fields, and re-submit. You should not have to re-type the ad.

I need to EDIT my ad. How do I do this?

Everything starts with logging into our system. After you login, you will see a button that says "Edit Horse Ad." Select your horse from the selection list and press this button to edit.

I need to DELETE my ad. How do I do this?

Everything starts with logging into our system. After you login, you will see an EDIT HORSE button and list of horses you have on Horse.com.classifieds. Select the horse, press the EDIT HORSE button, and you will see a DELETE button on the edit screen for that horse. Be careful, once deleted, it is completely erased from our system and we cannot put it back for you.

I marked my horse as sold and the deal fell through. How to I set it back to Un-Sold?

Just Login, go to the EDIT HORSE screen for this horse From the horse edit screen, you can do two things. 1) Press the "Renew TEXT" button. This will mark the horse back to Unsold as well as renewing the text ad. OR 2) Set the sale status to the correct status and press the "Save Sale Status" button. These options are self-contained within the Special Options boxes. The save button at the very bottom of the edit screen does NOT save these options.

Will you send me a renewal notice?

Yes. We will automatically email you a 7-day renewal notice to your registered email address for text ads and a 14-day renewal notice for photo ads. Please login to renew your text ads or use our Horse.com.classifiedssection to renew your photo ads. If ***YOU*** don't renew your ad, it will be deleted automatically. We need you to renew your own text ads. Also, please be sure that your email address is registered correctly and be sure to allow Horse.com.classifiedssection through any spam blocker you have in place. If your email address is incorrect, you will not receive a notice (and no response to your ads either)!

Can I place a Horse Wanted Ad?

Yes, just login, add a regular horse ad, and check the HORSE WANTED checkbox in the ADD HORSE screen.

My email address has changed. How do I update it?

Just login and click the "Edit User Info" button. This is where you can update your email, phone, ranch description, etc.

I updated email address and/or phone but the old one still shows on the FROM lines of the Contact Owner and Send to a Friend forms. How do I update it?

This is because there is a "cookie" stored on your computer that holds this information so that you don't have to type it in every time. If you login again, these cookies should be refreshed with the new information. Login Here.

I need some horse pictures for an online Sim-Horse Game. Can I link to pictures on Horse.com.classifieds ?

No! You need to have your own website where you can put horse pictures. If you would like to use some of our pictures to put on your website, please contact the horse owner directly.

How can I put banner ads on Horse.com.classifieds ?

I have a used saddle or a service (etc.) for sale. Can I put it Horse.com Classifieds?

Please use our tack classifieds section site for anything other than horses for sale, such as used tack, trailers, trucks, services, dogs, etc.

I cannot see the "View Ad" button or thumbnail photos on the Search Results List.

We have seen this problem when visitors are using ad-blocking or firewall software on their computers such as Ad Subtract and Norton Internet Security .
